<ul><li>Write, edit, and publish blogs, feature stories, email newsletters, and other content to produce clear, compelling narratives supporting CLF's legal and policy advocacy work
</li><li>Collaborate with the Development Team on fundraising campaign content, including appeal letters, donor updates, case statements, and emails
</li><li>Produce timely, high-quality content in response to breaking news, policy developments, and advocacy opportunities, often under tight deadlines
</li><li>Ensure website content remains current and accurate by regularly reviewing and updating key pages in coordination with the subject matter experts
</li><li>Translate complex legal, policy, and scientific concepts into accessible, values-based narratives that resonate with non-expert audiences
</li><li>Collaborate with CLF leadership to develop high-impact content for external audiences across multiple communications channels, ensuring consistent voice and messaging
</li>Oversee the editorial strategy for CLF's quarterly print magazine, Conservation Matters, including writing, editing, and managing freelancers

<ul><li>Provide editorial guidance and quality control for internal content creators and external writers
</li><li>Serve as a senior editorial leader, mentoring and coaching Communications staff and legal advocates on effective writing and storytelling, with the potential to assume formal people management responsibilities in the future
</li><li>Maintain editorial standards, style guides, and quality control processes
</li><li>Collaborate with CLF&rsquo;s digital and social media team to identify compelling ways to present and promote content online; familiarity with social media platforms and trends is helpful

</li></ul>What You'll Need 
Required Experience &amp; Skills

<ul><li>8+ years of experience writing and editing content for public audiences, with a strong portfolio of narrative-driven, accessible storytelling.
</li><li>Proven ability to translate complex legal, policy, or scientific topics into clear, compelling content for non-expert readers.
</li><li>Demonstrated experience managing editorial calendars and content workflows, including coordinating with writers and stakeholders to meet deadlines.
</li><li>Familiarity with content performance analytics and SEO best practices to inform and optimize content strategy.
</li><li>Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including digital, social media, and Development staff, to amplify content across platforms.
</li><li>Proficiency with WordPress, Microsoft Word, and Adobe PDF editing tools. Experience with project management software such as Trello or Airtable a plus.
</li><li>At least 3 years of project management experience managing editorial schedules, deadlines, and multiple content workflows simultaneously.

The starting salary range for the position when based in Boston is $104,000&ndash;$123,000 and $94,000&ndash;$111,000 if based in a CLF office outside of MA ; actual salary will reflect experience, qualifications, and where the finalist is based.
