 The Laboratory for Computer-Human Intelligence in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a motivated Research Assistant to work on cutting-edge machine learning / artificial intelligence / data science applications that utilize human signals (e.g. text, audio, physiology).
 
 
 
 The Role
 
 
 
 The Research Assistant will work on research projects in the Laboratory for Computer-Human Intelligence under the direction of the Principal Investigator Tuka Alhanai. Research projects range from implementing machine learning algorithms that measure cognitive outcomes, to visualizing patterns that map population-level health and well-being. The Research Assistant is expected to develop creative solutions to day-to-day technical challenges, think critically about meaningful next steps in the research process, and lucidly relay their thoughts, insights, and conclusions to high-level executive audiences and technical peers. It is not expected that the applicant be perfect at these tasks, but will motivated and self-driven to develop the necessary skills to master the role of a researcher.
 
 
 
 Key Responsibilities
 
 
 
 In the capacity of a researcher, the individual is expected to generally conduct the following activities. The specifics are dependent on the nature of the project they work on.
 
 
 <ul>

 Data Curation: Develop data ingestion engine(s) (appropriate for the data type) to organize the data that simplifies processing conducted with the data. Researcher will utilize any of sensors, front-end web-based applications, and databases to collect and organize data.
 </li>
 <li>
 Multimodal Signal Processing: involves processing data of different types (e.g. audio, text, physiology, image, movement), using computational methods. Most data is noisy and needs to be cleaned and reduced into a salient representation.
 </li>
 <li>
 Machine Learning: involves applying algorithms to automatically detect patterns in data and model outcomes of interest. Many if the latest modeling approaches are little understood, and require computational power to digest information beyond what humans are able to process.
 </li>
 <li>
 Visualization: Representation of data and results in the form of plots, charts, and images. This helps convey to technical peers as well as the general public what contributions the work makes to knowledge. It is expected that this be rendered statically and/or dynamically in a web framework.
 </li>
 <li>
 Documentation: involves structuring above work in a (a) software repository, (b) comprehensive comments in software, (c) development of a clear README, (d) journal/conference paper*, and (e) corresponding project website. This ensures work is reproducible and accessible to both technical peers and the general public.

 Research Assistant
 
 to work on projects focused on understanding RNA modification signaling pathways in the nervous system and their function in synaptic, neuronal and behavioral plasticity.
 
 
 Research in the RNA-MIND laboratory focuses on the study of the neural mechanisms of dynamic RNA regulation and its role in regulating synaptic, neuronal and behavioral plasticity, using behavioral, biochemical, molecular and cell biology, fluorescence imaging, and next-generation sequencing methods. The central goal of the laboratory is to understand the neural mechanisms underlying dynamic RNA modifications upon cognitive development and decline. Research projects rely on genetically engineered mice models, behavioral analysis, molecular dissection, high-throughput sequencing, and cell biological approaches. The hired Research Assistant will receive individual development plans that incorporate the researcher&rsquo;s career and training goals and lab&rsquo;s research goals. They will also benefit from the support of established Core Bioinformatics and Sequencing Platforms, Core Technology Platform, and High-Performance Computing facilities.
 
 
 Principal responsibilities of a Research Assistant include conducting experiments to understand the molecular mechanism of RNA modifications on synapses through a wide range of neurobiological techniques, including establishment of mice models, fluorescence labeling, imaging, super-resolution microscopy, genetic manipulation via CRISPR, in utero electroporation and other molecular manipulation approaches. They are also expected to perform experiments under guidance of senior researchers in the lab that help elucidate the molecular basis of neural network regulation modulated by RNA modifications associated with memory formation, along with the mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease onset associated with aging. They should be comfortable with working in the team to contribute to scientific projects in their expertise and providing mentorship to junior lab researchers.

Path 1 Kawader: Research Assistant - RNA-MIND (RNA Modifications, Intellect, and NeuroDegeneration)

 The Deep Learning laboratory in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research assistant to work on Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL). The successful applicants will lead the labs efforts in action-less design, continual learning, planning with world models, and contrastive RL. Our laboratory has expertise in deep learning, including deep reinforcement learning, large language models, and the theory of deep learning. The candidate will develop DRL algorithms for online and off-line tasks, for robotic applications and possibly for LLM reasoning applications in the future. The work will involve designing algorithms, running experiments on the HPC, analyzing the results and improving the algorithms. It will also involve extensive literature reviews.
 
 
 Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in computer science, have significant experience with deep learning with PyTorch, and have expertise in reinforcement learning. Junior Research Scientist in the Division of Engineering - Drs. Sunil Kumar and Prabodh Panindre

 The Modern Compilers Lab in the Computer Science program at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research assistant to work on the intersection of compilers and deep learning.
 
 
 Many companies, such as Google, Facebook, and Amazon are building new specialized programming frameworks. This is because these companies need to allow their users to write simple, high-level code and run it efficiently on different hardware architectures. For example, Google has built TensorFlow, a framework for deep learning allowing users to run deep learning on multiple hardware architectures without changing the code.
 
 
 Our research team at NYUAD (New York University Abu Dhabi) is developing a new programming framework called Tiramisu [1]. Unlike existing frameworks, Tiramisu can perform advanced code optimizations that are hard to apply otherwise. Because of this, Tiramisu can generate fast code that outperforms highly optimized code written by expert programmers and can target different hardware architectures (multicore, GPUs, FPGAs, and distributed machines).
 
 
 In order to have the best performance (fastest execution) for a given Tiramisu program, many code optimizations should be applied. Optimizations include vectorization (using hardware vector instructions), parallelization (running loop iterations in parallel), enhancing data locality by fusion, and blocking (i.e. accessing arrays in a way that improves temporal and spatial data locality). A large number of optimizations exist and choosing which optimization should be used and which should not is important for performance. In some situations, some optimizations are harmful to performance while they are beneficial in other situations. Currently, there is no way to help users choose which optimizations should be used. Expert programmers usually spend a lot of time trying different optimizations manually to find the best set of optimizations.
 
 
 The goal of this project is to add support for automatic code optimization in Tiramisu. In particular, we want to use machine learning/deep learning to achieve this. Currently, a basic automatic optimization module that relies on machine learning has been developed and we want to take that module to the next level. The final product of this project would be a compiler pass that allows Tiramisu to automatically choose which optimization should be used for a given unoptimized program. We want to produce a high-quality technique that can be used by the users of Tiramisu and especially by our partner companies and research labs.

 The Department of Psychiatry at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The candidate is expected to have a demonstrable capability and experience in the following areas: 1. Teaching and assessing undergraduate medical students at various levels, focusing on psychiatric theory, clinical practice, and behavioural sciences. 2. Coordinating the clinical training of medical students in the affiliated hospitals, ensuring a high standard of education and hands-on experience in psychiatric assessments, therapeutic interventions, and case management. 3. Providing clinical services at a consultant level at hospitals affiliated with the university, contributing to patient care in the community. 4. Developing and maintaining both internally and externally funded research projects in the field of mental health and neurosciences. The candidate is encouraged to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations within the university and with affiliated hospitals. International research partnerships will also be supported. 5. Publishing research findings in high-impact journals and contributing to the advancement of psychiatric knowledge through scholarly activities. 6. Active participation in the college&rsquo;s educational and administrative functions, including service on various academic and clinical committees. 7. Playing a key role in the growth and development of the department and contributing to the broader objectives of the university.
 
 
 Minimum Qualification
 
 
  An MD or MBBS degree and certification of specialisation in psychiatry from the American Board or equivalent from Europe, Australasia, or North America, with recognised advanced training in their respective subspecialty.  Demonstrated experience in teaching, clinical care, and research in the field of Psychiatry, as evidenced by their records in these fields.
 
 
 
 Preferred Qualification

 Subspecialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, General Adult Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, or Neuropsychiatry is desirable.
 </li>
 <li>
 A strong track record in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, curriculum development, and student mentorship

 Expected Skills
