Our client is seeking a Producer to join their team. They are seeking candidates with extensive experience producing short-form content, particularly social media content. 
 
The Video Producer is responsible for leading the development and execution of video content from concept to completion. You will conduct discovery calls, pre-interviews, and on-camera interviews, capturing powerful, authentic moments that reflect a shared vision in new and engaging ways. 
 
The Producer will ideate, shoot, produce, and drive content awareness across all digital platforms. The role is focused on content creation, short-form video, and storytelling tailored to various scales and locations. 
 
The ideal candidate will have a broadcast journalism background-someone who can write a story, film a story, and piece the story together (storyboarding) for social events, campaigns, web, and internal channels. 
 
This is a hybrid, contract position that has the opportunity to become permanent. 
 
Core Duties:

We started this year with 26 million views in a single month. This role will build on that momentum. The Digital Producer will work across the full range of what modern video journalism looks like, including evolving our podcast properties into video-native experiences and extending the quick-turn, talent-forward video operation that keeps CIR visible and vital across every platform that matters.</div><div>
This is a cross-organization position serving both Reveal and Mother Jones brands. You'll own important parts of the transformation of how our video podcasts reach audiences on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts. You'll also be working on a team that makes video feel like a natural, sustainable part of how CIR reporters tell stories every day&mdash;not a separate production track. The ideal candidate thinks in formats: what works as a long-form video episode, what gets clipped and shared, what puts a reporter's expertise on display in 90 seconds. Position Overview
The Videographer plays a critical role in capturing and producing dynamic video content that enhances communication, operational awareness, and organizational identity for a high-visibility Navy customer. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality multimedia products that translate complex missions, technologies, and initiatives into compelling visual narratives.
Video is a powerful medium for storytelling. Through professional production techniques, the Videographer supports mission-critical communication, workforce engagement, and external outreach.
Working within both controlled and field environments, this role ensures that all video products align with Command objectives, reinforce brand standards, and resonate with diverse audiences ranging from internal personnel to industry partners and the public.
Responsibilities<ul><li>
End-to-End Video Production: Plan, capture, and produce high-quality video content, including pre-production (concept development, scripting, storyboarding), production (filming, lighting, audio capture), and post-production (editing, color correction, sound mixing).</li><li>
Visual StorytellingMission Communication: Develop compelling narratives that effectively communicate mission priorities, technical concepts, events, and personnel stories in a clear and engaging manner.</li><li>
EventOperational Coverage: Provide video coverage of ceremonies, observances, leadership engagements, and operational activities at the Washington Navy Yard and across the National Capital Region, with occasional off-site assignments.</li><li>
Multi-Platform Content Development: Produce and format video content optimized for digital signage, social media, internal communications, and external websites, ensuring adaptability across formats and audiences.</li><li>
Clarity, SimplicityEngagement: Apply best practices in visual communication to ensure content is concise, visually engaging, and easily understood, even in fast-paced or high-traffic environments.</li><li>
Brand AlignmentStandards Compliance: Ensure all video products align with Navy branding, messaging, and style guidelines, while adhering to security protocols and communication standards.</li><li>
Accessibility: Incorporate accessibility features such as captions, audio clarity, and visual contrast to meet Section 508 requirements and support inclusive communication.</li><li>
CollaborationStakeholder Engagement: Work closely with Government representatives, communication teams, subject matter experts, and other creatives to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with strategic goals.</li><li>
Technical ExcellenceEquipment Management: Operate and maintain professional-grade video, audio, and lighting equipment. Ensure proper setup and execution in both studio and field environments.</li><li>
Editing, EffectsPost-Production Quality: Produce polished final products using editing software, incorporating motion graphics, overlays, captions, and visual enhancements to improve clarity and impact.</li><li>
Continuous ImprovementOptimization: Incorporate feedback and performance insights to refine production techniques, storytelling approaches, and overall effectiveness of video communications.</li></ul>
Required Skills and Experience<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in Video Production, Film, Photojournalism, or a related field with at least four (4) years of experience, OR at least six (6) years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor's degree in a related discipline.</li><li>
Demonstrated experience in full-cycle video production, including scripting, filming, editing, and post-production.</li><li>
Proficiency with video production and editing tools (primarily Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, or similar platforms).</li><li>
Strong understanding of cinematography principles, including composition, lighting, camera movement, and audio capture.</li><li>
Ability to translate complex or technical subject matter into clear, engaging visual stories.</li><li>
Experience producing content for multiple platforms, including digital signage, web, and social media.</li><li>
Knowledge of audio production, lighting techniques, and studio/field production workflows.</li><li>
Familiarity with motion graphics and visual effects is preferred.</li><li>
Understanding of accessibility standards (Section 508) and inclusive media practices.</li><li>
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.</li><li>
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in Government or military environments.</li><li>
Familiarity with security protocols and handling sensitive or controlled environments is preferred.</li><li>
Ability to work effectively remotely in cross-functional teams.</li><li>
Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.</li><li>
Proficient in Microsoft Suite software including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.</li></ul>
Clearance Requirements
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $102,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
