<p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p><p> </p><p>The Research Network Administrator holds the responsibility for managing and sustaining the network, servers, databases, and software platforms that underpin survey research activities. </p><p> This role is crucial for ensuring secure data collection, consistent system performance, and compliance with data privacy and security standards.</p><p> </p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure supporting survey research activities.</li><li>Administer survey platforms and databases used for data collection and reporting.</li><li>Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity, hardware, and software issues.</li><li>Ensure data security, backup, disaster recovery, and system availability.</li><li>Support researchers with survey deployment, user access, and technical issues.</li><li>Maintain user accounts, permissions, and authentication systems.</li><li>Collaborate with research teams to implement new technologies and improve survey processes.</li><li>Document network configurations, system changes, and technical procedures.</li><li>Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable data protection regulations.</li><li>Perform software updates, patches, and preventive maintenance.</li><li> </li></ul><h3>Required Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Experience in network administration or IT systems support.</li><li>Knowledge of:<ul><li>TCP/IP networking</li><li>Windows and/or Linux server administration</li><li>Database management (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)</li><li>Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)</li><li>Network security and firewalls</li></ul></li><li>Experience supporting research or survey platforms is preferred.</li><li>Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.</li><li> </li></ul><h3>Preferred Skills</h3><ul><li>Familiarity with survey software such as Qualtrics, REDCap, SurveyMonkey, or LimeSurvey.</li><li>Understanding of research data management and statistical software.</li><li>Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.</li><li>Experience with virtualization and backup solutions.</li><li>Strong communication and project management skills.</li><li> </li></ul><h3>Typical Duties</h3><ul><li>Monitor system uptime and performance.</li><li>Resolve technical support tickets.</li><li>Manage network equipment and server infrastructure.</li><li>Secure sensitive research data.</li><li>Coordinate software upgrades and testing.</li><li>Generate system performance reports.</li><li>Train users on research technology tools.</li><li> </li></ul><h3>Work Environment</h3><ul><li>Office, university, healthcare, government, or research institute setting.</li><li>May require occasional after-hours maintenance or on-call support.</li><li>Hybrid or remote work may be available depending on the organization.</li></ul>
