About the Role</h1>
We&rsquo;re looking for deep learning researchers who want to build rich representations of atomistic systems to help teach AI about the microscopic world. You will collaborate with domain experts in molecular modeling to develop Achira&rsquo;s next-generation foundation models. You&rsquo;ll work at the intersection of model architecture, data, and training strategy to find new points on the Pareto frontier of accuracy and speed for microscale world models.
While we prefer candidates willing to work from our San Francisco office, highly skilled candidates may be considered for working from New York City with travel to San Francisco as needed. Both locations are offered as hybrid roles, spending at least some of your time working from the office in collaboration with coworkers. What You&rsquo;ll Do</h1><ul><li>
Build a robust pre-, mid-, and post-training curriculum that ensures foundation model performance and impact.</li><li>
Create reenforcement learning strategies to help models focus their capacity where it matters most, especially when the training data doesn&rsquo;t cover the domain of applicability.</li><li>
Develop expressive representations of molecular and atomistic structure and dynamics, including equivariant graph neural networks, geometric transformers, and latent encoders that capture physical symmetries and constraints.</li><li>
Prototype, benchmark, and iterate rapidly to transform research ideas into reusable and scalable components across Achira&rsquo;s ecosystem.</li><li>
Collaborate with physicists and chemists to ensure models are grounded in real physics.</li><li>

<div>The Vice President, Genome Technologies is responsible for providing scientific, strategic and operational leadership for the New York Genome Center&rsquo;s genome technology enterprise, encompassing high-throughput research sequencing, single-cell and spatial genomics, emerging multiomic technologies, laboratory automation, and technology innovation. This person will lead NYGC&rsquo;s genome technology strategy and operations, integrating cutting‑edge innovation with large‑scale, high‑throughput execution to enable transformative, collaborative science. 


The Vice President will develop and execute a long-term technology strategy that positions NYGC at the forefront of genome science while ensuring operational excellence in support of large-scale collaborative research, institutional initiatives, and externally funded programs. As a recognized scientific leader, the Vice President will contribute intellectually to the Center's research direction, foster strategic partnerships, and lead the development of innovative genomic technologies and research programs.

Working closely with the Scientific Director &amp; CEO and other executive leaders, the Vice President will shape NYGC's scientific priorities, expand its national research portfolio, cultivate collaborations with academic, clinical, government, and industry partners, and help establish NYGC as a global leader in genome technologies and AI-enabled genomic research.

This position serves as a member of the Executive Management Team and oversees the Center's Genome Technologies organization, including research sequencing, technology development, project management, laboratory operations, and associated scientific support functions.

Responsibilities include:

<li>Serves as a scientific thought partner in defining NYGC&rsquo;s research direction, including emerging opportunities in genomics, sequencing technologies, and large-scale data generation;

<li>Builds and sustains multi-institutional collaborations with academia, healthcare systems, nonprofit organizations, and industry;

<li>Plays a central role in developing and leading NIH and other grant applications, serving as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI on major proposals;

<li>Represents the Center externally as a scientific leader to the genomics community, including NIH, other funding agencies, and key partners;

<li>Contributes to the development of consortia, partnerships, and collaborative research programs that expand NYGC&rsquo;s scientific and funding footprint;

<li>Advances a strategy focused on collaborative science and funded research, complementing service-based sequencing activities.

<li>Develops a multi-year technology roadmap that anticipates emerging scientific opportunities and positions NYGC as a leader in genome technologies.

<li>Identifies, evaluates, and implements transformative technologies spanning sequencing, single-cell, spatial, long-read, genome engineering, multiomic, and future genomic platforms.

<li>Establishes strategic partnerships with biotechnology companies to provide NYGC investigators and collaborators with early access to emerging technologies.

<li>Partners closely with computational scientists and AI researchers to develop datasets and technology platforms that accelerate AI-enabled genome interpretation and biological discovery.

<li>Provides scientific and operational leadership for NYGC's genome technology platforms, ensuring they remain at the forefront of scientific innovation and support the Center's evolving research priorities.

<li>Leads development of programs involving our Institutional Founding Members (IFMs), hospitals, and research collaborators.

<li>Develops annual operating and capital budgets for Genome Technologies.

<li>Oversees strategic investments in instrumentation, automation, laboratory infrastructure, and technology platforms.

<li>Accountable for execution of sequencing operations in support of scientifically driven projects and grants;

<li>Oversees prioritization and delivery of research projects, ensuring alignment with grant commitments and scientific objectives;

<li>Drives improvements in efficiency, scalability, and quality of sequencing operations;

<li>Oversees adoption and implementation of new sequencing technologies and methodologies;

<li>Provides deep expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and related technologies;

<li>Optimizes laboratory capacity, resource allocation, and operational workflows to maximize efficiency, meet project timelines, and support institutional research priorities;

<li>Partners with Finance to develop and maintain sustainable pricing and cost-recovery models for genomics services;
</li>
<li>Monitors external market trends, competitive genomics capabilities, and emerging technologies to inform strategic planning and maintain operational excellence;

<li>Negotiates strategic agreements with technology vendors, suppliers, and external partners to optimize cost, service quality, and access to innovative genomic technologies.

<li>Plays a leading role in expanding NYGC&rsquo;s grant portfolio, particularly NIH and large-scale collaborative funding;

<li>Provides leadership across all phases of proposal development, especially for multi-PI, center, and consortium grants;

<li>Helps build sustainable funding streams through programmatic, consortium-based, and investigator-initiated grants;

<li>Represents NYGC in settings that advance funding, partnerships, and scientific visibility.

Work Location &amp; Leadership Presence

NYGC recognizes the value of workplace flexibility while fostering a highly collaborative, team-oriented scientific environment. As a member of the Executive Management Team, the Vice President, Genome Technologies is expected to maintain a regular on-site presence to provide visible leadership, strengthen collaboration, and support organizational culture. 


The successful candidate is expected to work on-site at least four (4) days per week, with limited remote work flexibility subject to approval by the Scientific Director &amp; CEO. Regular interaction with faculty, staff, institutional partners, and executive leadership is essential to the success of this role. Occasional evening and weekend work, as well as domestic and international travel, may be required. 


Salary &amp; Benefits

The pay range for this position is $270,000-350,000 per year; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

About the New York Genome Center

The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is an independent, nonprofit, academic research organization dedicated to advancing genomic research. NYGC scientists and staff are furthering new approaches to diagnosing and treating neurological diseases and cancer through their unique capabilities in whole genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, state-of-the art analytics, and the development of genomic tools. Position Summary: 
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator.
 
 
We are seeking a motivated, detailed-oriented Research Coordinator to join our dynamic human neuroscience laboratory. The candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, neuroscientists, engineers, and data scientists to describe the underpinnings of human episodic memory function and its dysfunction and translating these findings for patient benefit. Our research combines naturalistic memory behaviors with direct recordings from the human brain at the single unit and local population level. We primarily work with epilepsy patients in the surgical inpatient setting as well as patients with implanted chronic brain recordings (RNS, NeuroPace Inc.). Some of the research tools we use are eye-tracking, pupillometry, head movements, first- and third-person video, GPS precision, speech analysis, and micro-macro wire recordings. Our lab collaborates with basic, cognitive, and computational neuroscientists on a shared mission to translate basic and cognitive neuroscience insights to improve human memory health. 
The ideal candidate will carry out all administrative and patient-facing activities (recruitment, consent, and data collection) without direction. S/he will contribute intellectually and socially to the lab culture and pursue their own independent scientific project within the lab.
 
Minimum commitment is 2 years.
