Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Sr. Clinical Care Manager, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator II, RN is responsible for assisting in the management of the delivery of patient care across two faculty practice sites and four divisions, including hospital-sponsored teaching clinic.

Tasks include but are not limited to coordinating patient care; anesthetizing by local injection; assisting in surgical procedures; developing a nurse-patient/family relationship; and assessing and managing patients within all adult age groups from young adult to geriatrics. In addition to primary responsibilities within the Division of Dermatologic surgery, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator III, RN will be expected to assist as needed in other divisions within the Department of Dermatology.

Responsibilities

<ul><li>Collaborate with physicians in the assessment, evaluation, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with dermatologic conditions.</li>
<li>Perform surgical procedures including local anesthesia, punch and shave biopsies, suture removal, and wound care.</li>
<li>Prepare, dilute, and draw up medications as needed for use in the faculty practice and Resident Clinic.</li>
<li>Assist with dermatology medical procedures including laser therapy, photodynamic therapy, and cosmetic procedures.</li>
<li>Assess patients using all available physical and diagnostic data, incorporating medical history, and evaluate patient status and progress with the current plan of care.</li>
<li>Provide coverage and assess patients during and after selected therapies; perform CPR.</li>
<li>Attend staff meetings, patient support meetings, and continuing education activities pertaining to the specialty as appropriate.</li>
<li>Participate in all quality improvement/process improvement initiatives.</li>
<li>Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, obtain accurate medical histories through effective interviewing techniques, ensure thorough and timely documentation in the medical record, and provide patient and family education regarding disease state, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up care.</li>

 Office. The Registered Nurse - Allergy will provide a high level of general care, vial mixing, administering allergy shots, and educating patients by using their knowledge and skills to promote the goal of The Ultimate Patient Experience.

 Registered Nurse - Allergy

 Promote a professional and welcoming atmosphere to enhance quality of service and care offered to patients and for respective provider(s).

 Provide general care and education to patients in accordance with OSHA regulations.
 </li>
 <ul>

 Administers prescribed testing (including skin prick testing and intradermal testing), medications and treatments.

 Maintains immunotherapy room with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness.

 Administer allergy shots and ensuring provider is on site.

 Observes, records and reports patients&rsquo; vitals and reactions to treatments.

 Assesses patients&rsquo; needs and suggest solutions to patient care problems.

 Supervise triaging of patient communications (through email and/or portal).

 Maintains accurate patient records, document all visits in EMR.

 Assures patient stays for required observation time after injections.

 Learn and perform immunotherapy vial mixing procedures and proper documentation in accordance with current regulations.

 Assist provider in recording prescribed treatments, medications, lab requisitions, prescriptions, prior authorization (including biologics), obtaining consents, and procedures within established guidelines.

 Demonstrate clinical competence and sound knowledge base in provision of quality patient care.

 Ensure allergy test sets and emergency kits are filled, current, and up to date.
 </li>
 <li>
 Confirm that insurance benefits have been verified prior to preparation of allergy serums.
 </li>
 <li>
 Serve as a role model and consultant to staff.
 </li>
 <li>
 Regularly interact with physicians and other providers and staff to identify and resolve problems.
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related materials; and by attending seminars and conferences as needed.
 </li>

 Report improperly operating medical equipment and instruments to supervisor.
 </li>
 <li>
 Perform inventory responsibilities, including but not limited to, ordering and stocking of supplies and equipment as requested.

 Attend all in-house training and continued education opportunities.

 Qualifications

Responsible and accountable to the Chief Medical Officer for helping to manage health plan medical quality, 
utilization, and assuring appropriate health care delivery, the Vice President of Medical Directors serves in a policy, 
operational and strategic capacity. The Vice President of Medical Directors&rsquo; overall purpose is to work across 
medical management functions, with a focus on Utilization Management and Business Intelligence, and across all

Scope of Role &amp; Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Reviews cases, determines medical necessity, and consults with physicians to review length of stay and reimbursement documentation.</li>
<li>Supports Utilization Management (UM) department staff and nurse Care Managers on concurrent review and preauthorization referrals and ensures that members receive appropriate services consistent with their benefits, regulatory requirements, and established clinical criteria.</li>

<li>Provides clinical support for members and provider appeals.</li>
