ABOUT HER JUSTICE</b></p><p>
Her Justice is a nonprofit organization that advocates for and with women and gender diverse people living in poverty in New York City. We recruit and mentor volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help in the areas of immigration, family, and matrimonial law to address individual and systemic legal barriers.</p><p>
100% of our clients are living in poverty in the five boroughs of New York City. In FY2024, 92% of our clients were women of color, 85% were survivors of intimate partner violence, 70% were mothers, and 49% spoke a primary language other than English.</p><p>

SUMMARY</b></p><p>
The <b>Senior Director of Finance</b> at Her Justice is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization&rsquo;s financial operations, financial planning, and compliance while ensuring alignment with its mission and organizational priorities. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Head of Philanthropy and Financial Strategy, this role partners closely with the Executive Team and the Board of Directors Audit &amp; Finance Committee to support financial management and operational decision-making for the organization&rsquo;s $8M annual operating budget and 40 person team.</p><p>
Operating in a lean team environment, this role balances financial oversight with hands-on execution and directly supervises the Finance Manager. The role is accountable for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all financial outputs, ensuring strong day-to-day financial operations while building and strengthening financial infrastructure across the organization.</p><p>

Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong financial stewardship across the organization.</p><ul><li><p>
Ensure all financial reporting, accounting systems, and ledgers comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory standards.</p></li><li>

Maintain internal controls, financial policies, and processes to safeguard organizational assets and ensure compliance with regulatory and audit requirements</li><li><p>

Oversee the work of the Finance Manager, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of all financial processes, including month-end/year-end close, reconciliations, payroll processing, and transaction-level financial activities. Oversee payroll operations and partner with People &amp; Operations on benefits administration, including retirement plans, renewals, and PEO management.</p></li><li>
Partner closely with the Development team on recording, reporting and reconciling all sources of income, including government contracts and grants, corporate and foundation funding, individual giving campaigns, and fundraising events.<ul><li>
Responsible for developing and maintaining government and foundation grant budgets, financial reporting, invoicing and compliance across contracts and audits.</li></ul></li></ul><p><b>
Budgeting and Forecasting</b></p><ul><li><p>
Lead and oversee the annual budgeting process, partnering closely with department and program leaders to develop realistic, mission-aligned budgets.</p></li><li><p>

Bachelor&rsquo;s degree, preferably in accounting or finance, plus 4-6 years of related experience required. Demonstrated comprehensive financial reporting responsibility in a large, complex organization required. Experience in higher education preferred. Strong financial analysis and modeling skills, including variance analysis, and financial statement analysis required. Strong computer proficiency (Word and Excel), including an in-depth knowledge of spreadsheet design, required. Must be highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including active listening skills, plus the ability to work closely and effectively with a diverse group of University administrators, as well as working independently and collaboratively as a team member is essential. The Division of Bridges seeks to hire a Senior Director, Personnel &amp; Administration in the Management Support Service/Chief Bridge Officer Unit. Reporting to the Chief of Staff for Bridges, serving as an advisor and executive team partner, supporting the Deputy Commissioner, and overseeing the division&rsquo;s personnel and administrative team. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities but not limited to:<br>

Ensure continuous improvement processes, organizational change, and strategic initiatives of the Deputy Commissioner and Chief of Staff with a strong ability to formulate resolutions that address complex and abstract challenges within Division of Bridges.<br>
Advise the Deputy Commissioner and the Division&rsquo;s senior management on recruiting and retention strategies.<br>
Provides leadership to facilitate the development of capacity-building within the organization.<br>
Act as a liaison with external/internal stakeholders (NYCDOT) and build relationships to ensure operational excellence.<br>
Collaborate with the Finance unit to align division vacancies with budgetary projections and constraints, vacancy control, funding and headcount issues, and OMB justifications.<br>
Ensure inclusivity and equity in all personnel practices including hiring, training, promotion retention, etc.<br>
Oversee staff completing personnel actions, including advising on civil service requirements, other personnel related matters and other strategic hiring issues.<br>
Oversee staff coordinating training for the field/office staff; responding to various agency requests including records management, compliance or other oversight functions as required.<br>
Should be proactive on continued professional development for the division staff and support the Division&rsquo;s current staff mentoring program.<br>
Manage a diverse portfolio, understand human capital management, and be able to balance multiple priorities and ensure that the division&rsquo;s administrative functions run smoothly.<br>
Compile various reports on Division activities for the Deputy Commissioner and the Division senior management.<br>
Performs other duties as assigned.<br>

Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above; or
