Japan Society seeks a Graphic Designer who will be responsible for the visual production pipeline across all of Japan Society's marketing channels ensuring the organization's brand is expressed with consistency, quality, and creativity across every touchpoint. This role owns the design of print and digital materials from concept through delivery, working closely with the Marketing Director to uphold and evolve brand standards. The ideal candidate is a skilled, detail-oriented designer who thrives in a fast-paced cultural institution environment and brings genuine enthusiasm for Japan Society's mission.
As part of a small, integrated department, the Graphic Designer is expected to provide general support to teammates during periods of high volume or staff absence. This may include assisting with social media asset production, contributing to email production, or supporting the Web Producer with basic visual updates to the website.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Graphic Design &amp; Visual Production<ul><li>
Design print and digital marketing materials including event collateral, posters, programs, signage, social media assets, email headers, digital advertisements, and seasonal campaign graphics.</li><li>
Maintain and apply Japan Society brand standards across all visual output, working in close coordination with the Marketing Director.</li><li>

</ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">WHO YOU ARE</h2>
<ul><li>5+ years producing high-quality video and audio content, ideally for longform conversational, interview-driven, or idea-focused shows.</li>
<li>5+ years of audio engineering experience in podcast production, radio, or other audio production.</li>
<li>Strong expertise in Descript for both video and audio editing.</li>
<li>Solid proficiency in Pro Tools for advanced audio cleanup and mixing.</li>
<li>Strong working knowledge of Premiere, with familiarity in After Effects for light motion graphics or template adjustments.</li>
<li>Substantial experience with YouTube publishing best practices&mdash;including thumbnails, titles, descriptions, tags, and performance optimization.</li>
<li>Experience with Riverside or similar remote recording tools.</li>
<li>Experience with remote production workflows involving multiple collaborators and stakeholders.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience with microphones, eq, compression, and producing content to meet loudness standards.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience with Pro Tools, Izotope RX, Riverside or other remote AoIP production platforms, and other common audio production tools.</li>

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Associate Producer to join our New York City Headquarters. As Freelance Associate Producer, you will write for fast-paced overnight newscasts. You are an exceptional storyteller with a dedicated command of news and cultural trends. You will be a member of a strong, flexible team that produces both short newscasts and major breaking news coverage during prime time and overnight shifts. In addition to providing short daily newscasts, this team constantly monitors multiple sources for major breaking news. 
You will be offered the following shift:
Friday, 7:30 PM ET - 3:30 AM ET
Saturday, 6:30 PM ET - 2:30 AM ET
Sunday, 6:30 PM ET - 2:30 AM ET

Produce news cut-ins during taped programming</li><li>
Produce short newscasts for digital services</li><li>
You will need strong editorial skills and quick reflexes to produce breaking news coverage during major events</li><li>
Write and produce hour-long programming during political coverage and international events scheduled for overnight hours</li></ul> 
WHAT YOU WILL NEED<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience</li><li>
National or large market local news experience</li><li>
Excellent writing, producing, and communication skills</li><li>
Solid news judgment and an outstanding grasp of politics, history, geography, and current events</li><li>
Ability to write in a vibrant conversational style that makes the news relevant, clear and catchy</li><li>
Substantial control room and breaking news experience</li><li>

Flexibility to work daytime, overnights, and weekend shifts</li><li>
