The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Full-time Research Coordinator position. The full-time Research Coordinator for grant-funded, human laboratory studies on cannabis will be responsible for facilitating enrollment, screening, data collection and management, and regulatory compliance. Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Organizational skills, attention to detail, good judgment, and the ability to work independently are critical components of this position. The hours for this position are as follows: Monday - Friday; 9:00am - 5:00pm; occasional evenings (3:30-11:30pm) and weekends (daytime/evening) anticipated approximately 1-2x per month. - Flexible availability required (position includes occasional evening and weekend shifts)
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Research Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigators of the Cannabis Research Laboratory to implement grant-funded research studies. This includes recording participants' behaviors, communicating with participants, and recording/managing data. Incumbent will assist in daily operational activities, participant phone and in-person screening, data collection, transfer and entry, regulatory compliance, petty cash and credit card handling, vitals measurement (e.g. blood pressure, heart rate, carbon monoxide, breathalyzer), food handling, and inventory maintenance. They will oversee junior members of the lab, including part-time and volunteer staff. They will also help with grant submissions and Institutional Review Board compliance. Must be willing to obtain certification in phlebotomy (through NYSPI).
Minimum Qualifications:<ul><li>
Bachelor's Degree and (1) year of relevant experience behavioral science research required.</li></ul>
Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>
At least (2) years of experience with data entry, database use, and behavioral research experience.</li><li>
At least (1) years of experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.</li><li>
Familiarity with REDCap.</li><li>

Position Summary: 
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clinical Research Coordinator.
 
 
The Clinical Research Coordinator is an active participant in the coordination of cancer related clinical research studies from research planning to completion of studies. The Clinical Research Coordinator performs study coordination tasks under the direction of the investigator and works closely with the Research Nurse and Data Coordinator to ensure overall compliance in the conduct of the study, and adherence to the approved study protocol. 


Job Responsibilities: 

<ul>
<li>Additional responsibilities as needed including: Help in the development of SOPs, policy changes, education sessions, and quality improvement projects</li>
<li>Work with licensed clinicians to develop tracking forms for all active trials, maintain tracking forms throughout the life cycle of the protocol</li>
<li>Provide updates to study team members regarding changes to workflow or patient-related specific needs according to protocol modifications</li>
<li>Schedule participants according to the approved protocol; coordinate with ancillary service providers to ensure patients remain adherent to the protocol</li>
<li>Prepare for study visits: bio-specimen collection, research ticket preparation, lab and EKG orders, scheduling of biopsies and scans, facilitating RECIST form, AE and Conmed form completion in conjunction with licensed professional and other tasks as needed.</li>
<li>Act as primary point of contact for all bio-specimen collections</li>
<li>Compile and submit weekly pharmacy lists to investigational pharmacy</li>
<li>Monitor infusion chair assignments; assure patient assignments are aligned with protocol requirements; make necessary requests for changes on as-needed basis</li>
<li>Help to reconcile any clinical discrepancies in data with RDAs and RCs</li>
<li>Maintain follow up calendar ensuring all survival follow up assessments are completed per the protocol; performs assessments not requiring licensure</li>
<li>May perform EKGs with documented training</li>
<li>Initiates vial assignment by DCU and coordinates with Infusion Nurses and Pharmacy to ensure timely dispensation of IP</li>
<li>Participates in Pre-Screening activities to identify patients that may be eligible for a clinical trial</li>
<li>Under the supervision of licensed clinicians administers ancillary assessments (i.e, Quality of Life Exam)</li>
<li>Participates in the feasibility and complexity assessment process for new protocols</li>
<li>Assists patients in understanding the schedule of assessments according to the approved protocol, coordination of appointments, and ancillary services (under the supervision of a licensed clinician but clinician does not have to be physically present)</li>
<li>Under the supervision of investigator, may take part in AE and Con Med documentation and reporting activities such as SAE and ECI reports (All documentation must be verified and signed by licensed clinicians before submission and all assessments must be made by a licensed clinician)</li>

<li>Grants - Assists in the preparation of grant applications and related activities such as developing grants proposals and fund raising activities. Collects and organizes required paperwork for submission if required. Follows up and coordinates resolution of all issues progress reports to the sponsors to fund medical research in the division.</li>
<li>Budgets - May develop draft budgets and submit to the Principal Investigator. Assists in the preparation of funding reports to agencies. Helps to identify new potential sponsors/agents for trials and researches as assigned.</li>
<li>Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.</li>
<li>Human Subjects' Research - If applicable, updates and submits necessary documents required by the NYU Institutional Board (IRB), NYU Office of Clinical Trials and any other appropriate parties in order to obtain approval to conduct human subjects research. Secures accurate signatures and forwards documents and/or forms to appropriate destination. Might prepare and submit monthly enrollment statistics to the Office of Clinical Trials and provide other information in timely manner, as necessary.</li>
<li>Research Activities - Collects patient information for the research project(s). This may include abstraction of data from the patient chart (e.g., laboratory or diagnostic test results, surgical/radiation treatments delivered, adverse drug reactions, etc); abstraction of data for publications, or data collection from outside physicians offices. Uses tools to facilitate data collection (e.g. calendars, schedules, tracking logs, etc). Audits and updates the database or the case report forms. Conducts study visits, obtains and documents information within the time frame specified. Research, collects, compiles and conducts preliminary analyses of data, statistics, and other materials for reports. Conduct preliminary analysis.</li>
<li>Recruitment - Screens potential patients/subjects for eligibility to the study and schedules the initial visits. This may include researching and gathering information from the medical record, physician referral, advertisement and directly scheduling a visit to evaluate the patient/subject. Reviews all the elements of the screening process with the Principal Investigator that include but not limited to: inclusion/exclusion criteria, completed informed consent, documentation of the event and the patient/subject willingness to participate in the study.</li></ul> 


Minimum Qualifications: 
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in life sciences, allied health or equivalent in a related discipline and 0-1 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under the direction of supervision. Ability to operate research related equipment. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Knowledge of basic medical terminology is preferred. Prior experience working with Research Protocols. Experience working in an academic medical center environment

Responsibilities

The Clinical Research Coordinator manages clinical trials (including some regulatory and budget requirements) and assists in the coordination of tests/visits for patients, working with the study team to maximize work efficiency to gather all required data and relevant clinical information.

<li>Working with the research nurse, treating physicians, and Principal Investigators to confirm that each patient meets eligibility criteria specified for protocols and enrollment into clinical trials.</li>

Position Summary

The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will support investigator‑initiated trials (IITs) focused on improving outcomes for patients with heart failure. Studies may be single‑site or multicenter across inpatient and outpatient settings. The CRC will collaborate closely with faculty investigators, research fellows, a regulatory manager, a biostatistician, and a data manager to execute high‑quality academic clinical research and contribute to scholarly dissemination.
